Your archive stays on your device.

This policy applies to the Silo browser extension. Silo is a local-first link manager: it saves web links and organizes them with folders and tags. The developer operates no servers and has no access to your data.

Nothing. Silo does not collect, transmit or sell any personal information. There is no account system, no analytics SDK, no tracking and no telemetry of any kind. Uninstall the extension and nothing of yours remains anywhere but your browser.

Everything you save — link URLs, titles, favicons, tags, folders and settings — is stored locally in your browser's storage area. To save a link, Silo reads the active tab's title and URL at the moment you trigger a capture. When you use the History mode, it reads your recent browsing history so you can pick links to save. All of this happens on your device, only when you initiate it, and none of it is transmitted.

Only what you choose to do: opening a saved link opens it in a new tab, the donation links take you to those sites, and a feedback email is sent from your own email client.

One technical note: when a saved link has no stored icon, Silo may ask Google's favicon service for a small icon by sending the site's domain. No other information is shared, and this only happens when you view a link without a saved favicon.

The extension requests only the permissions it needs to do its job, and each one is used entirely on your device:

Lets you pick links to save from your recent browsing history.

Adds “Save to Silo” to the right-click menu for links and pages.

Opens the side panel so you can browse your archive while reading.

Your archive stays until you delete it. Removing a link, tag or folder deletes it locally. Uninstalling the extension removes its stored data — export a JSON backup from the dashboard first if you plan to switch browsers, reinstall or take a break.

Silo is not directed at children and does not collect any data from anyone, including children.

If this policy ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will reflect the revision.
